Catherine Thompson began her education at Sacred Heart Primary School in Yeppoon in 1970 and then at Mater Dei Primary School at St John’s Wood after moving to Brisbane in 1973. Her secondary education at Mt St Michael’s College at Ashgrove saw her continue her journey in Catholic education. After leaving school, having deferred an opportunity to begin a teaching degree, Catherine worked for the National Australia Bank until deciding that teaching was again calling her to her chosen profession. Graduating from her teaching degree in 1985, Catherine’s first appointment as a Business and Economics teacher was at Oxley State High School. After having their first daughter, Catherine returned to teaching at Oxley State Secondary College before being appointed in 1993 to her first Catholic school at Trinity College in Beenleigh.
Catherine taught on and off at Trinity until 2001 where she went on to hold middle leadership positions before being appointed to the position of Assistant Principal – Administration and then subsequently Deputy Principal at Chisholm Catholic College. In 2007, Catherine was appointed to the foundation position of Head of Secondary at St Eugene College at Burpengary. In 2010, Catherine returned to Trinity College at Beenleigh, this time as Principal and remains in this position until the present day.
