Bishop Ken was educated at St Columba’s Primary School, Wilston and St James College, Brisbane, and joined Queensland Rail after his school years working as a clerk in the Chief Engineers Office. He was ordained a priest in 1983, and has served in varied roles throughout the Archdiocese of Brisbane, including Dean of the Cathedral of St Stephen, Vice Rector of Holy Spirit Seminary and Parish Priest of Australia’s largest parish, Burleigh Heads. He was ordained Auxiliary Bishop of Brisbane in June 2017.

He has a particular interest in liturgy and completed a Licentiate in Sacred Liturgy at the Pontifical Institute Sant’Anselmo in Rome. He is a member of the Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission and was its inaugural Chair.

On 1 February, 2021 Bishop Ken was appointed to the position of Vicar General of the Archdiocese in addition to his duties as Auxiliary Bishop. In his role as Vicar General he has responsibility for the oversight of the agencies of the Archdiocese, including Brisbane Catholic Education, Centacare, Archdiocesan Services and Evangelisation Brisbane. He is also Parish Priest of Kangaroo Point East Brisbane Parish.
